There are all kinds of races for men and women, and even a festival film night, spaced out over a week. It all makes a great spectacle and a fun reason to visit Abergavenny this summer! Find out more about the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling.
The Festival of Cycling was revived by Grand Prix of Wales organiser Bill Owen in 2006 (it had previously existed as the Abergavenny Classic which attracted top British and international riders). It has grown in stature every year and in 2009 attracted Tour de France and Olympics household names like Nicole Cook, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins.
It’s not all about the professionals – the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling also hosts other races of varying lengths including a race around town for tandems and hand cycles. There’s also the Deri Dash (hill climb event) and an evening of Cyclocross at Abergavenny Leisure Centre. It’s all good fun .Find out more from the Festival of Cycling website.
