What’s On

Abergavenny is a vibrant market town and a great base for your holiday with festivals, music, a carnival and even a vintage steam rally to keep everyone entertained.

As well as all the great outdoor activities on your doorstep, Abergavenny is home to the Abergavenny Food Festival, the Festival of Cycling and many other events. You’ll find antiques fairs, vintage fairs, farmers’ markets, craft workshops, a twice-yearly fun fair and a town carnival in July. The town also has a thriving theatre, the Borough Theatre, the Baker Street Cinema and choral music in St Mary’s Church.

Vintage Steam Rally

Vintage steam fair

In May Abergavenny’s Bailey Park is home to an annual steam engine rally which attracts people of all ages. Vintage steam-powered vehicles pack the park – as do the crowds. It’s a great family day out. You’ll discover colourful old traction engines, old military vehicles and even a steam organ (with dancing can-can girls).

This year the rally takes place on May 25-26, 2014.
